Balms and salves
Balms and salves usually have a richer, more occlusive texture and are supplied in tubs or tins. The supporting oils, waxes and botanical ingredients can make one formula feel very different from another.
Gels and sensory ingredients
Gels tend to feel lighter on the skin. Some formulas include menthol, camphor or other ingredients that create a cooling or warming sensation; that describes the feel of the product, not a medical purpose.
